May 22, 2012, Tokyo, Japan - The Tokyo Skytree, the worlds tallest self-standing terrestrial broadcast tower at 634 meters, opens to the public in downtown Tokyo on Tuesday, May 22, 2012...Despite the foul weather, some 8,000 visitors turned out on the first day to see the limited but 360-degree views of the nations capital from two observation decks. On the opening day alone, the operator expected about 200,000 visitors to Tokyo Skytree Town commercial complex, which consists of the tower, a 312-tenant shopping and restaurant zone called "Tokyo Solamachi," an office building zone, an aquarium and a planetarium.
